Do you know the difference between a lithograph and a serigraph print? The GMU Printmakers Guild provided an informative session on printmaking led by Susan Goldman at the Smithsonian American Art Mueseum (SAAM).  We provided hands on workshops to the people of all ages and demonstrated a wide variety of printing techniques.  These techniques included relief, screenprinting, and engraving.  The workshop was inspired by the works in the William T. Wiley exhibition.

The GMU Printmakers Guild is donating a custom print to the Honor Flight Network (http://www.honorflight.org/) at their upcoming awards banquet in November.  Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.

The Philagrafika, Philadelphia
Mark/Remarque
March 24 - 27, 2010

The conference will examine traditional and digital print processes (marks), critical discourse important to the field (remarks), and consider the concepts associated with the historical print term remarque: rarity, testing, concept amplification, and boundary extension.

This conference will take place during Philagrafika 2010: /*The Graphic Unconscious*/ - the inaugural presentation of a multi-sited international festival of contemporary art focusing on artistic practices that engage the visual, intellectual and creative frontiers in printmaking and how these approaches relate to social and political issues in the public sphere.
